DON'T YOU LOOK CUTE IN YOUR LITTLE CAT SUIT -
BUT WHAT'S THE POINT???
back
There have always been a lot of rules in the IFBB designed to make physique competition look more "Olympics-like." Bodybuilding used to use a complex point system that resulted in many judges not knowing who they selected as the winner. The three round system now used in IFBB bodybuilding is another example of this kind of rule structure - making believe that it is legitimate to have judges think in terms of "symmetry," "muscularity" and "presentation" rather than simply deciding which bodybuilder on stage, all things considered, is the best, the next best and so on.
Fitness and figure both are now conducted with rounds in which the women wear two-piece and one-piece suits, as if there were more to be learned about a competitor's physique by having a round in which her torso and mid-section are totally covered up.
But the biggest waste of time has to be the IFBB fitness "cat-suit" round in which each competitor wears something that totally covers up her body and in which she has 45 seconds to do a specific set of complusory moves. Not only does having to change into these outfits and then into the next makes everything that much more complicated and time consuming. Add to this that you are covering up the body that is, essentially, the whole point of the competition. Does anyone think these suits are attractive? But even more than this - what exactly is the point? Why can't the IFBB simply dictate that these compulsory moves have to included in the individual routines?
This round should be dropped from IFBB fitness contests. With figure competitors proliferating like some kind of out of control alien invader, the women's contests are getting way too long and toooooooo boring.
