New 2004 Women's Physique Rules
NPC Women's Bodybuilding
The NPC has added two poses to the list of mandatory poses that will be performed in the Mandatory Round of posing in the Women's Bodybuilding Division. The additional poses are the Front Lat Spread and the Rear Lat Spread.
Weight classes in the NPC Women's Bodybuilding Division have been altered and expanded. The NPC national level bodybuilding contests will have competition in 4 weight classes with the addition of a Light-Heavyweight Class. When a contest is a national qualifier there will be 3 weight classes. The weight class breakdowns are as follows:
Non-national qualifier contest - 2 classes - up to 125 lbs and over 125 lbs
National qualifier contest - 3 classes - up to 125 lbs, over 125 lbs up to 140 lbs and over 140 lbs
National level contest - 4 classes - up to 115 lbs, over 115 lbs up to 125 lbs, over 125 lbs up to 140 lbs and over 140 lbs
NPC Women's Figure Division
Height classes in the NPC Women's Figure Division have been altered and expanded. When a contest is a national qualifier there will be at least 3 height classes. The NPC Figure National Championships will have competition in 6 height classes. The height class breakdowns are as follows:
2 height classes - up to 5'4", over 5'4"
3 height classes - up to 5'4", over 5'4" to 5'6", over 5'6"
4 height classes - up to 5'2", over 5'2" to 5'4", over 5'4" to 5'6", over 5'6"
6 height classes - up to 5'2", over 5'2" to 5'3", over 5'3" to 5'4", over 5'4" to 5'5", over 5'5" to 5'6", over 5'6"
Beginning in 2004 Figure competitors will have to be qualified to compete in NPC national level events. The qualification process is as follows.
Junior USA or Junior Nationals - Must place in the top 5 at a
national qualifier within 2 years of the event.
Figure Nationals (Held at the Team Universe) - Must place in the
top 3 at a national qualifier within 2 years of the event.
NPC Women's Figure competitors can qualify for the IFBB pro figure division in the following events:
Junior USA - Overall winner
Junior Nationals - Height class winners
Figure Nationals - Top 2 in all of the height classes
Did You Know?
The only qualification for entering the NPC TEEN, COLLEGIATE AND MASTERS
NATIONAL BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS is that you need to have competed in any NPC event ever. No particular placing is necessary and it does not matter what division was entered.
There are no qualifications for entering the TEEN WOMEN'S FITNESS NATIONALS or the COLLEGIATE AND MASTERS WOMEN'S FIGURE NATIONALS. The contest is held in Pittsburgh on July 23/24. Call 412-481-9129 for more information.
The 2003 NPC National Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships had the largest number of competitors of all time, 321 competitors! The 2004 NPC Nationals will be held in Dallas, Texas on November 19/20.
